Abstract
Acute transient swelling of the salivary glands, commonly known as ¡°anesthesia mumps¡±, rarely occurrs after general or regional anesthesia. We report a case of unilateral anesthesia mumps following tympanomastoidectomy under general anesthesia, which is believed to have been caused by compression of the salivary gland and duct due to excessive head rotation. Careful attention to the position of the patient is required to avoid mechanical obstruction and compression of the salivary gland.
